Time is running and sometimes you need to be in a hurry not to be too late to see something, to talk to someone, to record it. And the time came to meet with a Lithuanian film Meter - Arūnas Žebriūnas. Meter is not a person which is easy to approach or communicate with, however, the topic of our converstaions - movies, art and the creator – will become a path to the world of a movie artist. Pieces of art reflect the personality of the creator, therefore in this documentary film the Director will work on his last movie together with his followers. The plot of the short feature film “Žvilgsnis kainavęs gyvybę” originated from the film novel of A. Žebriūnas called “Story No.1”. Famous Lithuanian director of photography A. Kemežys will help to screen this story, and the documentary film will become a challenge to the rest of the crew, so-called “centimeters” – his students. The film director often mentioned that “documentary was never interesting for me as a genre. Is this art? To shove some fragments from previously directed films, have a little chat in front of the camera and that’s it – here’s your documentary.” Conversations with film Meter reveals the philosophical attitude towards film art, the questions of human existence which appear in every film of A. Žebriūnas – childhood and senescence, love and death, friendship and loneliness. These will be the main details in film structure, complemented with brilliant scenes from previous films of the Director reflecting previously mentioned questions which will contribute to revealing the personality of our hero – the film Meter. “Metras ir centimetrai” – it’s a film about a film, it’s a key to solution, and what is found behind the locked door is always special, unique.

Not far from the village, where Sushchenya, the lineman, lives, the sabotage was committed - a train was blown up. Sushchenya who is not guilty of the bombing, was captured by Polizeis together with a group of saboteurs. German investigator let him free as bait for the partisans. The rumor of Sushchenya's "betrayal" spreads in the district . Partisans Burov and Voitik come to Sushchenya's farm to avenge the death of comrades, but Sushchenya persuade them not to kill him in front of his wife and son. The partisans take the sentenced to death in the woods. Along the way they are ambushed and Sushchenya remains in the wood alone with his mortally wounded butcher. Now Sushchenya has a hope for salvation. He thinks that the partisans will believe in his innocence if he takes the half-dead Burov in the squad. THE LAST NOVEMBER (project development) |

DIRECTOR: Benjamin Quabeck
SCRIPTWRITERS: Armen Gasparyan, Benjamin Quabeck, Franziska Mueller
GENRE: feature film
PRODUCER: Natalia Drozd, "Amselfilm Productions GmbH & Co KG" (Germany)
CO-PRODUCERS: Rasa Miškinytė, UAB "ERA FILM" (Lithuania); Sergey Selaynov, RAB "CTB Film Company" (Russia) MASCHA and KOLJA, a Russian couple in their early twenties, make their way to ‘Königsberg’ in order to start a new life far away from their old destroyed home. Its 1947, the Soviet government is taking the first steps after WWII to repopulate the formerly German region of Eastern Prussia. MARTHA, born and raised in ’Königsberg’, her daughter HANNA and her old GRANDFATHER are evicted from their makeshift accommodation. The Germans barely made it through the war and only get by with great difficulty ever since - pitiful figures without any rights living as shadows amongst the ruins. MASCHA and KOLJA are the new residents of their former home. Soviet propaganda has Russian resettlers travel to the city full of hope for a better life – expectations obviously in high contrast to the mere fight for survival of its German population. Arising tensions unload in unpredictable moments of cruel violence. MARTHA and her family relocate into the basement of the house as MASCHA and KOLJA move into ‘their’ apartment right above. Both parties fear the respective strangers that where their war time enemies not long ago. Only when Martha’s daughter HANNAH disappears things begin to change in between the two women. Fear and prejudice slowly turn into mutual understanding. Nonetheless, it remains a balancing act and the uncertainty if and when the situation might knock over and pull people into the abyss is ever present. Devastating chaos has shifted the standards for humane behavior and it is generally hard to know whom to trust… |

IN VIA (post - production) |

DIRECTOR: Jokūbas Tūras.
GENRE: creative documentary.
PRODUCER: Rasa Miškinytė, UAB „ERA FILM“ (Lithuania).
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY: Jokūbas Tūras.
The IN VIA Project is a six-month walking pilgrimage by me – Lithuanian director Jokūbas Vilius Tūras from Vilnius to Santiago de Compostela along the Way of Saint James via Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, France and Spain starting on 5 January 2010 and ending on 27 July 2010 and the production of a film about it.
Covering 20 to 30 km each day, I will record the most interesting and spectacular places and landscapes, welcoming or not so welcoming people on the streets, in the houses and monasteries in cities, towns and villages along the route sharing their thoughts on freedom, love, faith and the God. The pilgrimage-based film to be produced on return to Vilnius will display a gallery of European people‘s portraits, their views on life and this kind of travel – pilgrimage. The film will convey the people‘s met on the road search for motivation and meaning of life, their different answers to the essential questions of life and being. 25th July in 2010 falls on a Sunday, so Santiago de Compostela will be celebrating the Holy Year of the Apostle James. The year is declared holy whenever the Day of St James, 25th July, falls on a Sunday. Plenary indulgence given in the Holy Year has attracted countless pilgrims from around the world since medieval times. The next Holy Year will be celebrated in 11 years.
Having walked the Way of Saint James from St Jean Pied de Port, France (800 km) in 2007 and from León, the Spanish Province of Castilla (300 km) in 2008, I feel well-prepared for this pilgrimage. Besides, I‘m going to use the filmed material from the previous journeys in the production of the film on this big pilgrimage.
The film will reveal the meaning and significance of such expeditions nowadays. Since ancient times, pilgrimages have helped one to open for important inner changes, providing encounters with many good people from around the world, have paved the way for one‘s personal growth, strengthened faith and returned hope and a feel of communion. The Way of Saint James has played arguably the greatest role in establishing the Christian identity in European history. Out of the main pilgrim routes (the other two lead to Rome and to Jerusaleum), the Way of Saint James is considered the most important one. With numerous objects of historic and cultural heritage, this route has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the Holy Year 2010, Santiago de Compostela will meet pilgrims with a great number of spectacular events.
